Welcome…again!

March 13th, 2009 · Comments

Welcome back to the new incarnation of my personal web site. As you’ve probably noticed, the address has changed from headdresstattoo.com to nickmeador.org. I had a few reasons in mind for the change. First of all, nickmeador.org is easier to remember and quicker to type. Second, it’s become apparent over the past six months that there are many people in the world named Nick Meador. A quick Facebook search turns up about seven of us. And thanks to my understanding of digital marketing and search engine optimization, I know that I’ll have to compete against all of them on something like Google search results. For example, when I typed in “Nick Meador” on Google in the fall of 2008, the only entries I saw were things related to me. Now I see some pages related to a high school student in Texas who is trying to get recruited for college football.

Some of you may be asking yourselves, “What’s the big deal?” Well, you may have noticed that I currently self-publish all my writing and creative work. In fact, I plan on self-publishing, promoting, and distributing books in the future. But this depends on my ability to control my online presence. However, a longer explanation will get stale, so let’s leave it at that.

This blog will now be used less often for heated arguments, and more often for news about my activities and whereabouts. (Note: if you still want heated posts, see my Supraterranean Admin Blog). My most recent news item: I was hired as Web Content Administrator at Michigan Radio, the NPR affiliate in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I start on Monday and I’m really excited. I think it will be a chance to combine my interests of journalism, online publishing, and social media/digital marketing.

With that said, I hope the beginning of 2009 has treated you well. I’ll catch you on the flip side.
