I manage Rodrigo y Gabriela and was at that London show. The song is not called 'Fuck the USA' but 'Fuck The US Visa Department'. You can Google this to verify.

Nick thought he heard them name a song called ‘Fuck the USA’ but this is not true. Then he based a whole article on this misheard information.

Although there was an incident with the US Visa Department (they had mistaken Rodrigo for someone else, resulting in us pulling shows, which cost a huge amount of money and inconvenience for everyone including their record label, promoters and fans who had spent money making plans) and this song was written in the middle of that chaos, they have nothing against the US government or US citizens. They chose to play to their large US fan base on a regular basis and will continue to so in the future.

At the time they released a press release to US political media outlining their frustration with the Visa Department and this was picked up by mainstream media all over the US.

I have since replied to Nick with this information but he has not been keen to correct his mistake. I’m posting this reply in the hope that I can get the true version of events to Nick’s readers. Although now I have to explain to Rodrigo y Gabriela’s business partners that this article was based on false information. Although, as they know Rod and Gab well, they would not have believed that RyG would say ‘Fuck the USA’ in the first place.

Regards,

Niall Muckian

Hi

Can you email me on nmuckian@rubyworks.com so I can speak directly to you?

I manage Rodrigo y Gabriela and wanted to inform you of some very important but incorrect information which you posted in this blog.

I never received this letter as you mentioned above. Instead I found it through Google.

Looking forward to making a major clarification.

Regards, Niall
